Curator is Endeavor's comprehensive system for local digital
content creation, management and access. Libraries the world
over are using Curator to manage their collections of papers,
audio, art images, important cultural heritage material and
digital resources of all kinds. The system is flexible enough
to scale up as digital collections grow in size and complexity,
yet simple enough to get up and running quickly. And it's
available at a price that's manageable given today's
tight budget requirements.
The Need for Digital Resource Management
Library administrators are well aware that today's library
patrons expect nothing less than reliable, remote, around-the-clock
access to library resources. Industry research illustrates
how these expectations have translated into major increases
in electronic resource investments during the past several
years. However, many academic libraries are struggling with
labor-related and logistical issues when attempting to properly
manage their electronic resources, including locally generated
content. Few are able to add more staff, so most remain concerned
about the level of effort needed to properly support their
growing e-resources.
Curator Ensures Access to All of Your
Digital Resources
Curator gives librarians a single-point solution for creating,
searching, organizing, and presenting local digital content.
With Curator, collections can be created and accessed with
a single system independent of format or location, connecting
researchers and other users with the information they need
when they need it. Through Curator, users will gain access
to rich local or special collections containing harder-to-find
materials that are not readily available elsewhere.
Integrated Searching Across Content
Users can perform a single simultaneous search across the local
library OPAC as well as disparate local digital content organized
by staff into recognizable virtual collections. Browsing
of these virtual collections is also straightforward with
the click of a mouse, users can view the contents of a collection
to understand related information. And Curator's powerful
relevance-ranking ability helps ensure that all search results
are displayed as accurately and accessibly as possible.
Open Technology, User-Friendly Interface
Curator is designed to take advantage of standards-based open
technology with a single user-friendly interface. Curator
gives library staff the flexibility of defining multiple
repositories or databases and a variety of content metadata
- including Dublin Core and Encoded Archival Description
- using a metadata loader to import existing digital content.
Virtual collections can be created by simply dragging and
dropping items from locally created repositories, and it's
no problem to have items associated with multiple collections.
Curator's intuitive user interface was developed in part
through usability studies with existing customers, making
for a superior end-user experience.
Built to Meet the Needs of Your Library Today
and into the Future
Curator was designed with long-term storage
of digital materials in mind. With Curator, you get not only
a powerful tool for building digital collections but also the
support of a company committed to the long-term needs of libraries.
