One end is a gold sheherd's hook to put through a button hole and the other end having a spring clip to hold a watch. There are 14k fittings on both ends and in the middle. All fittings are hand etched.

Also, to have a combination of hair colors also makes it more valuable. This particular piece is around 140 years old, and the condition is absolutely perfect. It also has some nice weight to it. Lastly, a lot of the hair jewelry that had gold fittings, usually the gold was 10k or filled.
