Domain monetisation and the close and substantial connection rule - March 2006

Status

auDA is currently considering whether domain monetisation should be included within the meaning of the "close and substantial connection" rule.

auDA issued a public announcement about this issue in October 2005.

Public Consultation

auDA has released an Issues Paper, March 2006.

auDA is keen to receive feedback from a wide range of Australian DNS users, and encourages all interested parties to participate in the consultation process.

Legal Action: Domain Names Australia

auDA has won its TPA action against Domain Names Australia Pty Ltd, over mass mail outs during 2003.

Domain Registrations Warning

auDA cautions that registering multiple domain names for the primary purpose of capturing web traffic and/or selling click-through advertising may result in cancellation of the domain names for breach of policy.
