The C++ language originates from the C language and became popular in the early 1990s.  Today, C++ is one of the most widely used commercial language and therefore looks good on any resume.  The language supports object oriented concepts such as abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism. 

The job market for experienced C++ coders is expected to remain strong in the foreseeable future.
