Spencer on Byron

Hotel Information:

Salvaged from a shipwreck, the lobby’s wooden floors are paired with contemporary minimalist furnishings and go nicely with the hotel’s understated nautical theme. Public areas are scattered with potted orchids and funky modern chairs. The hotel caters mainly to business travelers, conference groups, and families.

Insider tip:

Takapuna Beach, less than a half-km from the Spencer on Byron, is a popular local beach where Aucklanders flock on sunny weekends. From here are views across to Rangitoto, an ancient volcanic island in the Hauraki Gulf. The scenic coastal path that leads along the coast to Milford Beach is a noted Auckland walk.
