THE PETER SEASON GETS OFF TO A
START IN A SCORCHING HEAT WAVE
The Peter season has just commenced and should
provide some good late evening sport on our midland lakes for a
number of weeks to come. The present heat wave has killed off
all daytime fishing, both for salmon and trout. The best chance
of catching a salmon is at dawn before sunrise in these
conditions. Ennell, Owel and
Lough Ree have started to fish and prospects look promising,
although the present extreme heat is not ideal in the short
term.
TIGHT LINES!
CRONEEN PROJECT LOUGH DERG: As part
of on-going investigations on the Croneen during their lake phase in
Lough Derg anglers are asked to support the project by taking and
submitting tissue samples for genetic analysis and to complete a
survey. For instructions on how to do this you can download our
INFORMATION SHEET AND SURVEY FORM HERE
or contact Dr Fran Igoe, Catchment Managment Officer, Shannon Regional
Fisheries Board, Ashbourne Business Park, Dock Road, Limerick Tel: 061
