    Fighting by the rules
    This informative film examines the development of the law of armed conflict and considers its relationship with the whole history of war in the 20th Century. Drawing on a wealth of historical facts for illustration, it demonstrates how humanitarian law is wholly compatible with the principles of military necessity. Aimed primarily at military audiences, Fighting by the rules emphasizes how essential it is for officers to incorporate the fundamental principles of the law of armed conflict into procedures and training programmes in armed forces throughout the world.

    The Geneva Conventions 50 years on
    Highlighting the events organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, this comprehensive film also looks at how the modern-day Geneva Conventions were signed. With footage from Rwanda, Sudan, the Balkans and South America, it stresses the importance of the Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols for protecting the wounded, prisoners of war and civilians in times of armed conflict.

    To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, the ICRC organized a campaign to position humanitarian law in the context of the modern-day warfare. They are also among the most widely ratified treaties in the world.
