AFI is noted for its annual celebrations of excellence in the art form, as well as its high-profile special events.

AFI Awards
An almanac for the 21st century, AFI AWARDS records and preserves America's cultural legacy by honoring excellence in the moving image arts. Chosen by a jury of experts, 10 films, 10 television programs and several AFI Moments of Significance are recognized each year. AFI AWARDS is the only form of national recognition that acknowledges the collaborative nature of film and television by honoring the creative ensembles as a whole.

AFI Life Achievement Award
Established in 1973, this was the first award to recognize a film artist's body of work that has 'stood the test of time.' More than 30 years later, it remains the highest honor for a career in film.

AFI's 100 Years... Series
Stimulating a national debate and driving millions of people back to classic American films, this award-winning television series was launched to celebrate the legacy of the first century of film history. Beginning with AFI's 100 Years . . . 100 Movies, the series has sparked interest and discussion among film lovers far and wide.

AFI Golf Classic
Each year, film and television luminaries come together to enjoy a great day of golf at the famed Riviera Country Club to benefit AFI. Past participants have included Chevy Chase, Greg Kinnear, Ron Pearlman, Ray Romano, Mark Whalberg and James Woods, among others.

AFI Associates
The AFI Associates support AFI by inspiring community outreach and developing exciting fund-raising programs, such as the annual Film Premiere, International Film Series, Classic American Film Series and Platinum Circle Award Luncheon. Formed in 1984, the AFI Associates have raised $4.5 million, providing continuous funding for many projects, including the Directing Workshop for Women, and enhancement of the Louis B. Mayer Library and Mark Goodson Screening Room.
