AFI AT ARCLIGHT
AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies Screening Series presented by Audi
WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 8:00 PM

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9, 8:00 PM
NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE
1978 109 MIN 35MM

DIR John Landis SCR Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney, Chris Miller CAST John Belushi, Tim Matheson, Peter Riegert, Karen Allen, Donald Sutherland

Unable to gain acceptance at the snootier fraternities they pledge, the Deltas, a motley crew of misfits and sociopaths bent on disrupting the well-starched status quo, engage in various illegal activities that land them in hot water with both the stern college dean and the neighboring jock fraternity. Their exploits eventually get them placed on "double-secret probation," until finally they are kicked out of school and, as the dean reminds them, newly eligible for the Vietnam draft.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16, 8:00 PM
MOMMIE DEAREST
1981 129 MIN 35MM

DIR Frank Perry SCR Frank Yablans, Frank Perry, Tracy Hotchner, Robert Gretchell, based on the source material by Christina Crawford CAST Faye Dunaway, Diana Scarwid, Mara Hobel, Steve Forrest, Rutanya Alda

When her adoptive mother Joan Crawford died in 1977, erstwhile actress/author Christina Crawford and her brother Christopher were left out of her will, "for reasons which are well known to them." According to the film (and the book that preceded it), Joan Crawford was a licentious, child-beating behemoth who stalked and postured through life as though it was one of her own pictures - more STRAIT-JACKET than MILDRED PIERCE. Faye Dunaway's brilliant portrayal of Crawford earned the line "No more wire hangers, ever!" the #72 spot on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 8:00 PM
THE MALTESE FALCON
1941 100 MIN 35MM

DIR John Huston SCR John Huston based on source material by Dashiell Hammett CAST Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre

Considered by many film historians as the first Hollywood film noir, THE MALTESE FALCON is one of the most popular classic detective mysteries ever made. The low-budget film reflects the remarkable directorial debut of John Huston (previously a screenwriter) who efficiently and skillfully composed and filmed this American classic for Warner Bros. with great dialogue, deceitful characters and memorably menacing scenes.
