The Most Powerful Person On Earth. Publish Date : 1/10/2006 6:22:19 AM Source : A.Z. Alfred
A.Z. Alfred Know these men? Washington George, Adam John, Jefferson Thomas, Madison James, Monroe James, Jackson Andrew, Van Buren Martin, Harrison William, Tyler John, Polk James, Taylor Zachary, Fillmore Millard, Pierce Franklin, Buchanan James, Lincoln Abraham, Johnson Andrew, Grant Ulysses, Hayes Rutherford, Garfield James, Arthur Chester, Cleveland Grover, Harrison Benjamin, McKinley William, Roosevelt Theodore, Taft William, Wilson Woodrow, Harding warren, Coolidge Calvin, Hoover Herbert, Roosevelt Franklin, Truman Harry, Eisenhower Dwight, Kennedy John, Johnson Lyndon, Nixon Richard, Ford Gerald, Carter Jimmy, Bush George Sr, They were and are powerful men. Dr Nelson Mandela who spent twenty-seven years of his life in prison is a powerful man. Martin Luther King Jr., who spent his lifetime in making sure that his children are not judged by their skin colors but by the content of their character, was a powerful man. Carl Brashaw, the first African-American master diver in the US Navy despite being handicap was a powerful man. His wife was a powerful person too. The Pope John II was a powerful person. He forgave Ali Agca who tried to assassinate him in 1981. Ratzinger too, rather Pope Benedict XVI is a powerful person by condemning Spanish government allowing marriages between homosexuals. He did right in his first challenge. On the other hand, Jack the Ripper, Adolf Hitler, Muammar Ghadaffi, Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat, Sani Abacha and Osama Bin Laden are powerful men. Those who sacrificed their lives to terminate innocent lives in the World Trade Center were powerful people. Even the Jajaweed militias (known as devils on horseback) who killed innocent souls in Dafur, Sudan are powerful men. Power, they say, intoxicate, but it is no power when it is wrongly used. However some who had rightly extended it still have some demons walled off in a corner of their little hearts. Many like Ronald Reagan, (May his soul rest in perfect peace) the once optimistic son of a drunk, who rose to become a powerful person (President of United States) passed on taking his demons with him to his grave. We all miss him and endless tears messed up not a few makeups at his funeral. I wept deeply but inwardly, saving my tears for important days in my life (I'm only cleaning up my closet). But the once fearful boy who never learned to rode a bike without the training wheel until college; the humble man who slept on the floor in the presidential jet for Bush Sr. to have a bed, I think, is more powerful. Not that is fear or humility points him as the more powerful person, but the willingness to let the world keep his demons (secrets) on their bookshelves makes him more powerful. He took his time, abandoned the comfort of his home in Chappaqua, New York moved into his renovated barn adjacent to it and wrote a book titled "My Life." He did not stop there; he told his side of the crisis with Monica Lewinsky to Michael Duffy, the TIME Washington Bureau Chief leaving him (Michael) to paint his secrets whichever way in the magazine that is read worldwide. Certainly, TIME did have a great sale with such non-fictional secrets taken from the horse's mouth. Even Hollywood did not move on without taking its share of the story. Bill Clinton was not ashamed to tell the people he once governed that he slept on a couch in the living room during his hard time. He was humble enough to go through intense family therapy and religious counseling to save the one thing that mattered to him—his marriage. What a more powerful person. But, is a dark secret told strong enough to make a person more powerful on earth? Yes, if you ask me, but I think it doesn't make one the most powerful. The most powerful person on earth if I may say is not the once celebrated President who is a role model to millions, but the wife who took him back as the man who had once and will continue to share her marital bed. If ever there is someone who deserved Purple Heart medal, (Maybe Pink, Red or Orange Heart medals or whatever medal should be created for wounded marriages) Hillary Clinton does (If she has no dark secrets in her leathered diary). Not for the wound sustained in the battlefield, but for the deep scar left on her heart. Every gathering--Grade Schools, High Schools, Colleges and Universities-- need inspiration and motivation to move on. For voluntary humanitarian session, call A.Z.
