Magnum Opus
Magnum Opus are a Glasgow based band started by Ross Young and Adam Fairbairn in May 2005. In the studio and live they work with a few gifted musicians to bring Ross' written music to life. Their style is both eccentric and eclectic; merging danceable rhythms and infectious melodies with a dash of disortion to create catchy, quirky songs with more imagination than the "average bands" who dominate the modern music scene. Their influences include DAF, Ministry, Trio, Laibach, Johnny Cash & Swans. Currently the band are working on their debut EP "THESE PEOPLE" and plan to tour extensively in Scotland and then hopefully throughout Britain. Show support for the locals by attending their gigs (there may just be freebies in it for you).

Primarily just 1 member, but can have up to 3 or 4 people playing live. All backed by the lead DJ Cape who is on just about whatever electrical device he can get his hands on (synths & sequencers, drum machines, decks), and supported by Bassist Daniel Butlin, Bassist/Keyboardist Mike Simmonds and Guitarist Steven Bloomfield. Main influences come from many different areas of music including Daft Punk, Fingathing, The Rapture, Soulwax, The Music and Primal Scream amongst others. I would mostly describe the band as Dance, but we take influences from many other genres, in particular the sampling aspect of Hip-Hop. Already on the way to having the first EP ready for release, this is a band looking to move on up in the world.
