Venice and the Orient
Venetian collections of the world’s major museums
Venice had established privileged relations with the Near Eastern dynasties and forged strong ties with Cairo, Damascus and Byzantine Constantinople...
This exhibition of paintings, textiles, glass, pottery and silver and gold items brings Venice’s glorious past alive.
The Institut du Monde Arabe invites you to discover “Venise et l’Orient”, while relations between the city of the Doges and the Near East spanned several centuries, the exhibition focuses on the most fruitful period, i.e. the 14th to the 17th centuries.
Organized by Institut du monde arabe (Paris) and The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York)
