AAJE
I am a solo artist (guitars and vocals) who sometimes plays with session musicians occompaning my music, most of the time it is a solo set.
My influences are Stereophonics, Neil Young, Damien Rice, The Beatles and Starsailor. And sometimes a Kurt Cobain influenced voice, depending on what track and mood it is.
The lyrics are bitter sweet and truthful, with great meaning to them.
Currently demos are being produced, with AAJE (Alex) playing every instrument you hear. An EP should be ready soon.

About FAce
The band started in the summer months of 2004 with a common interest in music and similar levels of talent. At first we found it difficult to settle on a name, let alone a certain style of music. We eventually agreed on the name as it is now; About Face, which gave us confidence in ourselves as a band and allowed us to progress and confirm a style.
As yet we haven't played too many gigs, but we have involved ourselves in parties, school performances and private showings for friends/family. We managed to practise at least once a week during our school terms, but have recently found a lot more free time following our A level completion.
We don't really see what is in store for us, but plan to stay together and play music for as long as possible with as much commitment as possible. We are currently recording our songs and working on writing new ones, with the aim to play gigs/shows over the remaining time in the summer.
The website encapsulates us as a band so far; our successes and our general progression. The pictures and recordings are designed to give you some insight into what we are about. (Face)

List of members:
-Sam Crosby (Guitar/Bass/Vocals)
-Paul King (Guitar/Bass/Vocals)
-Samuel Tyndall (Drums(/Vocals))
-David Wright (Guitar/Bass)

AcoustikA
Hailing from Sydneys Northern Beaches, this original rock 5 piece is ready to be heard. Their music is ever changing and is an expression of the Bands emotion and experiences. To quote a review of AcoustikA's music that was recently featured in Sydney street press... "The music they create is unpredictable. What seemingly starts out as fairly straight heavy rock in one song jumps to frenetic punk in the next followed by stoner rock grooves or an anthem seventies sound."

With a reputation developing for their notorious AcoustikA rock parties that have best been described as a live music video and regularly feature cage dancers, pole dancers and fire breathers! AcoustikA is a band not to be missed!

Air Traffic Control
Personnel
Kirk Comstock (lead vocals/guitar)
Jordi Comstock (drums/vocals)
Luke Comstock (bass)

History
Brothers Kirk and Jordi were founding members of long-standing East Coast indie rockers, Madhat - a band they started while barely old enough to go outside without supervision. That outfit managed to release three joyous CDs of youthful rebellion as well as touring the country and finding their often self-produced videos on MuchMusic. They learned by doing and now they've grown up.

The New Story
Although Kirk and Jordi have always been the center of the action, other components of the band have been about as permanent as the harbour ice in their native Lunenburg. The ironic addition of Comstock cousin Luke has provided the necessary glue for a new permanence, a new mature sound and, ultimately, a new band. That band is Air Traffic Control. As the name suggests, it promises to put order to chaos and give these young but seasoned pros a definite flight plan for the future.

The New Record
Air Traffic Control, is the first release by this new line-up and was produced by the band in their home studio (Electro Land), the same space that cranked out Madhat's "To The World," easily one of the best records to come out of Canada's Atlantic provinces in recent memory.

The album has just been released by MapleNationWide/Universal and has garnered Air Traffic Control a nomination for new group of the year at the NSMW conference. The album's lead cut, "Feel Proud" is a great introduction to the new sound and has already found its way onto EA Sports' Rugby game for PlayStation2, Xbox and PC to the tune of 800,000 units and counting.

The sound is dynamic, the lyrics are thoughtful and the performance is rock-steady. The band is ready to face the nation. We hope you like it.

Angel Iles and Morris
Hailing from the depths of the West Country, fuelled on Jack Daniels and wrapped in paisley scarves, this band have discovered how 3 men can make more noise than a thunderstorm. Listening to them you can sense their upbringing on early Rolling Stones, the Small Faces, Elvis and an array of Blues Music. Energetic and bordering on sleazy, they hit out original, foot stomping rhythms in a way that only they know how.

Not really indie as such, more alt. country but i supose it covers a range never the less. Singer songwriter. working on songwriting more than anything else. The music has gotta be described as love sick, blue, heart on ur sleeve music. The best way to describe it would be as a Ryan Adams kinda sound. If u dont know who he is then, u probably wont like this.

Brad Kenstler
Brad Kenstler Releases Double CD Entitled "Just Go To Sleep"

"Just Go To Sleep" is a haunting melancholy into a ghostly ether, it teeters upon a revelation of hope within its balance of transcribed demons and soul embrace. Listen to its sweep in its entirety in a quiet place. In its mastery of depravity, within its percussive swirl, in its orchestration, philosophic technique, in its tenderly arranged ballad, in its will to reach you, let it, and you will, weep, as I did... or dance atop its Id.

(PRWEB) March 5, 2005 -- Brad Kenstler releases debut solo CD, a self-taught bassist, guitarist, and pianist started song writing and performing in Las Vegas in 1985, and thru numerous all original bands, winning the Battle of the Bands, gigs and touring, press coverage and radio play, self produced CD sales, and a diverse following, his experience as a songwriter and band leader became well known.

After 11 years of college at UNLV, from classical piano, classical guitar, jazz guitar, history, poetry, and finally music theory and composition, with an emphasis on advanced orchestration, his training resulted in a professional composer, arranger, and orchestrator, with numerous compositions under his belt, as well as a premiere composer's concert for orchestra, Kenstler's Solitude, conducted by Hanlon, and performed by the UNLV orchestra, and recorded by the resident engineer, Kurt Miller.

With a background like this, raised on Cat Stevens, Marty Robbins, Eddie Arnold, and Neil Diamond, from punk rock to classical composition, an articulate, melodic, harmonious, and almost tribal rhythmic texture, wholly original emerged, cultish, pure and lyrically superior. This body of music is a remarkable precious arrangement of haunting ballads and sweet lasting melody, an allegorical masterpiece, it truly is the Fine Art of Transcribing the Return , a universal philosophy chiselled into song.

Burn the Mona Lisa
Burn the Mona Lisa: to overthrow the over-rated. To produce a body of work that is as provocative, evocative and memorable as the moniker it's created under. To create a soundtrack to sing to, dance to, fuck to, dream to, and quit your job to.

B.t.M.L. have rapidly carved out a reputation for themselves as one of the most exciting bands currently blazing through England’s venues. Like most successful projects, it was all about waiting for the slots to fall into place. As members of 'amigo', Nick, Mark and Rob had spent years honing their sound in venues around the North West, never quite obtaining the elusive 'x-factor' that marks the difference between the good and the great.

With the departure of a key member came the opportunity to go back to the drawing board and start again - new direction, new line up, renewed sense of purpose. With the arrival of Simon in February 2004 came a shot in the arm for the group and it soon became undeniable that they'd found the perfect chemistry.

“There’s a well deserved buzz around these compadres…a cult following at least beckons, huge sales entirely possible.” John Earls - Channel 4 Teletext
Ambitions are great for the release of ‘PLASTIC POP’ (Gazelle Records). Recorded at Blueprint studios in Manchester on a tight budget, the disk was finished in 24 hours and we're more than happy with the results. The cd will be available through all good independent record shops from Monday October 25th.

“This is a band definitely on the verge of bigger things…. its only got to be a matter of time” ukmusicsearch.co.uk

“Perfect–There’s no escaping the originality and possibilities of this fresh faced outfit…They have the songs to feed even the greediest labels.” Manchester Music.co.uk

Of his latest feature, Scared New World, audiencemag.com wrote, “…it just goes to prove what genius can do when pressed.” VARIETY added that the film rests “solidly in the tradition of pioneer indie pics like Cassavetes' Shadows…fests looking to showcase new Amerindie talent should take note.” Now Chris brings his unique and caustic vision to the music world. Having played in a number of Bay Area bands over the last decade or so, Chris can be heard on forthcoming releases by Jon Del Arroz, Chris Manning and Heidi Jane. clownprince
Clownprince are not your run of the mill, average four-piece band.
Since arriving on the Wigan music scene, a little over a year ago. This curious quartet has established themselves as one of the most exciting and notorious on the Wigan music scene. Their influences range the dulcet tones of Johnny Mathis, to the sneer and brutality of the sex pistols. They describe their style of music as council house. Clownprince’s song writing encapsulates all aspects of life as viewed by people born on the wrong side of the tracks. They blend pathos with tongue in cheek humour in the most English self- deprecating way as only they can.

Doktor Mandrake
Hey, hello and welcome to the ‘biog’ of the delightfully bitchin’ band we love to call Doktor Mandrake. This band is massively entertaining, but alas, notoriously difficult to pigeonhole - playing a screwed up combination of rock & roll, funk, punk, and blues with swing, ska, skiffle and Latin American influences – ergo, describing them on paper is quite a challenge - but we’ll at least try and give you an insight. They wow every audience they perform to thanks to a combination of diverse and catchy songs, mixed in with their fun, passionate and talented performances – with repeat visits to such venues as Night & Day cafe, The Roadhouse, Life Bar and Manchester Academy. With widely varying musical influences, they have managed to create their own inimitable style - inspired by such acts as The Clash, The Divine Comedy, Ben Folds, Gogol Bordello, Tom Waits, The Libertines, Shane MacGowan, Dave Weckl, Madness, NoMeansNo, Turbonegro and many, many more.

So here’s the history - Paul Plowman (drums and beard) and Chris McGinty (guitars and hair) met way back in 1998 at the University of Teesside. For nearly two years, they jammed together, sometimes with other guitarists, bassists and singers and sometimes, rather depressingly, just the two of them. But armed with a few self-penned tunes and oodles of hope (or delusion possibly), they persevered with “the grand plan” until one day they met Marv Willers (vocals and sweat) who wowed Chris with his bellowing vocal chords and ability to grab the attention of the public. Selling Marv the dream of being a bona fide rock & roll front man, they managed to lure him away from the potentially heady heights of the glamorous world of Karaoke. So now the twosome became a three-piece and McGinty and Willers formed a solid song-writing collaboration. They still wandered aimlessly, with bassists here and there, building up a huge catalogue of songs in the process. After umpteen personnel, name and location changes, they met Johan The Asp (bass and oomph) last summer and after just three practices, made their first appearance at Manchester Academy 3. At long last, the line up was complete…

Since then, Doktor Mandrake have been rehearsing, gigging and recording whenever and wherever possible – entertaining and impressing their ever-increasing fanbase. They are a refreshingly unpretentious band who are obsessed, not with being cool, but with putting the fun and passion back into music. The live music scene has needed a band like this for far too long – at long last, that band is here.

So that’s the talk – to see them walk the walk, come and see them doing what they do best, or skip that part and call the management on 07939 670 958 or 07960 638145 or e-write: marv@thewayisforward.com. Alternatively, visit the website – you can email the Doktor directly from there. Oh, and to hear more great music, go to myspace.com/thewayisforward.

Thank you.

And goodbye.

Ebb-Tone
Ebb-Tone are from Sheffield, England and were formed by David Hall (Vocal, Guitar, Songwriter) and Jonathan Oxley (Guitarist).

We started out learning covers by favourite artists such as Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana and tinkering around with original material.

After a year or so or crafting our sound we recruited a drummer and a bassist and went out gigging with original material. With this line up we generated a good local following and a couple of well sold self promoted demo cd’s.

We then changed our line up and recruited Greg Weller on Bass which helped us to strengthen our identity.

We spent several months of practice re-working a lot of old material and writing a lot of new material.

In 2002 we recorded the Funny Thing EP and set about a heavy gig schedule consisting of venues such as the Cavern in Liverpool, Casbah, Sheffield, and 3 musical festival to promote the EP which generated numerous positive reviews (see attached)

In 2004 we recorded Autumn Girl EP (reviews attached) which we are currently completing artwork design for before circulating to our contacts in England and the US.

We are hoping to generate interest for management of the group for representation to Record Labels as we all share the common ambition of making this band the best we can.

Elizabeth
Lizzy is currently studying at Loughborough university. She is graduating at the end of the year with a 2:1 we hope! Lizzy picked up guitar when she was a lot younger, our dad used to teach her..out of the three sister's Elizabeth's talent came through, however she stopped playing for a while, but she decided to pick it back up when she was in secondary school, at 16 she wrote her first song. Elizabeth spent most of her time in our dining room which had good acoustics, she wouldn't come out even when i wanted to eat my dinner! She juggled writing songs with her coursework and AS/A Levels. Elizabeth is self taught, and writes all her own lyrics. She has regular gigs at The Union (Loughborough) as well stalking (!) the depature lounge boys at the campus radio show which specialises in student talent. She has been described as "a songwriter who people can really relate to". As she's grown up..her songs have changed, and make more of an impact as you can probably tell. (written by Grace k-ward, aka younger sister

High Rising
We are a 4 piece band from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. Formed in 2004 we have enjoyed a great musical journey so far and just want to continue writing and playing live shows. Highrise
Lawrence and Jason met at school in North London 1999 through a mutual love of Chelsea and Oasis. Jason was well known for having a good set of lungs on him,
and Lawrence for his guitar playing abilities. Both hell-bent on starting a band they performed covers to get some practice in. After a few gigs they started to
write their own material, to begin with it was a direct reaction to bands like The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Verve, Stereophonics an Coldplay. They went through various band member changes trying to find the right line up.
One long summer they ran out of beer money and decided they needed jobs. When Lawrence started working at The Man in the Moon in Camden in 2002 so too did Matt, a bass playing art student keen to join a band. After making a music video for Highrise he replaced the old bassist, and brought an energy to the sound reflecting his own influences such as The Libertines, Rancid, The Clash and the Sex Pistols.
In 2004 they replaced the drummer for Olly, a far younger, faster and nuttier fruit, studying music at college. He brought with him a heavy metal influence and technical ability that beefs up the sound and drives the band forward. Mark was the missing link needed to make the band whole, bringing a Pixies and Queens of the Stone Age influence, he joined at the start of 2006 to build up the live sound and complete line-up.
Highrise recorded a demo last year at Miloko Studios in Hoxton, London, with producer Matt Hyde, and in March have just recorded four brand new tracks at Valley Studios in Winchester with Ben Startup, which define a new sound and direction of the band.

Listen To Johnny
Rob Taylor and Tom Wigley met at an open mic night in Lichfield in late 2003. Rob had been writing and performing his own material for a few years and Tom had jus split from his previous band. After a couple of months of meetings at the open mic night the pair decided to join forces and try to put something together. They began rehearsing immediately and were soon performing as a duo around Lichfield. It wasnt long before Rob and Tom decided their sound needed to be "bigger", and that's when they set about looking for other members to form a band. It wasn't long before Yarnall, an old acquaintance of Rob's was announced as the bass player, and Tom got into touch with Reggie, the drummer of his former band, who agreed to join, thus making the line-up complete. Listen To Johnny had officially arrived

The band have been practising and writing material together for about 18 months. During this time they have performed at various events. Their main musical influences come from 60's groups such as The Beatles and The Beach boys as well as more recent bands like Oasis,Ocean Colour Scene and Blur amongst others. This gives the band a unique pop-esque sound with a dash of indie for good measure, much like the "brit-pop" bands of the 90's. The mix of acoustic driven rhythms, effect-laden lead lines and sing-a-long melodies give the band a unique and unforgettable sound unlike anything else in the local scene.

The band are now tighter and more confident than ever and their skill for writing together is getting better all the time. Armed with a plethora of good, original material, the band are now ready and willing to make a big impact in the music scene. Even if it's just for being different.

Nine Ashes
Forming in the spring of 2002 in the wilds of South Woodham Ferrers and Burnham On Crouch, Nine Ashes were formed with the pre-tense for rockin and funky melody.

The band is fronted by Egg, 22 from Chelmsford, Essex. Playing the guitar for 12 years, Egg has played in several acts encompassing covers bands, rock bands and hip-hop collectives performing on drums, keys, vox and guitar throughout. Will Elliot, 22 from Burnham plays Bass and has also played for many years in various punk-rock bands around South Essex and now works at the Royal Opera House, London. After the departure of Alex Hume in August 2004, Nine Ashes have installed 22 year-old Graeme Howell onto drum duties - an estate agent who's not afraid of pushing the hard sell… or rock…

Their influences are wide and varied, including Led Zeppelin, Oasis, Pink Floyd, The Jam, Green Day, Reef, The Clash, The Roots, and other groovy dudes.

By early 2003, Nine Ashes had played their first gig at Soundhouse, Colchester headlining a very busy Saturday night, and going down a storm with all around. After this success the boys took their show on the road over the following months, clockin up gigs over Essex, Kent and Surrey and playing shows to music fans in Soho and Camden. Nine Ashes' recorded a 3-track demo in January 2004, 'The Shadow' which shifted over 500 copies locally (in and around South Essex)…

In 2004 gigging highlights have included supporting fellow Essex band The Stunts and NME favourites Razorlight at Cambridge Girton Ball, 'DawnTreader', in March of this year.

"Nine Ashes blending myriad influences; ranging from The Coral to The Roots; this Essex-based three-piece kick off proceedings on the Main Stage with a blast of funky, indie rock: the perfect start to a fantastic line-up" DawnTreader Program, March '04

With this success behind them, this summer the boys have worked on rockin' new demo 'Wasting Time' which brings rock, drum and bass, and new wave all into one tidy package. Working with Graeme, Nine Ashes are now perfecting their new live show, which should start rockin and rolling around your local venue around Jan 2005.

Some people still care about music. The more intelligent you are, the more you need music to move or challenge you, like a great book or an original movie that seems to expand your mind and open you up to new possibilities.Whether that music is the White Stripes or Tom Mcrae, Nirvana or Free, we just don't care anymore as long as it takes us somewhere. We like to think we're somewhere in between all these, with a little bit of Hendrix, Dylan, blah.

Pets in Trees
Pets in Trees was formed in San Francisco, late 2004, by two friends, Joel Case and Dan Siddique, with the help of artist, Danny Olda. Our name is based on a rearrangement of the letters in "Pine Street", where the band's first songs were written.

Having a shared interest in four-track recordings, we bought a few microphones and some new equipment and self-recorded our first EP in our downtown San Francisco rehearsal space (vowing to keep personal computers out of the process, of course, in line with our indie upbringing).

Pets in Trees' most notable achievement up to the present is being personally requested by Eric Gaffney of Sebadoh to open for his re-release of the album Sebadoh III.

We are now working towards completion of our second release with drummer Harry Kniznik and bassist Kiley Johnson.

Solway
SOLWAY are one of the North East of Englands newest bands coming from both sides of the water (Wardley and Tynemouth)they where formed in November 2005 and consist of singer/songer writer and lead guitarist Jamie Nicholson, Stu Forrest on guitar, Beanie on bass and Tony Dougan on drums.

SOLWAY have a refreshing, loud, raw and well constructed sound with a hint of indie that is unique to them. They list their influences as Oasis, The Beatles, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Eric Clapton, Cream and The Who to name but a few however they dont try to sound or look like anyone else, they look and sound like SOLWAY.

All of SOLWAYs music is wrtten by Jamie (aka Jim) with him writing both the music and lyrics but with a valuable input form the rest of the lads.

SOLWAY played their first gig at the Head of Steam in Newcastle after only one month after forming and they seem to be going from strength to strength building up a fantanic following. Earlier this year the lads recorded their first ever demo with the help of the Buddle Arts Centre in Wallsend. This demo disc is currently doing the rounds in the north east and the lads are hopefull this will lead to more gigs in the future. SOLWAY would love to take their music as far as it will take them, they just love playing live gigs and the crowds seem to love them.

If your interested in any of the bands music or fancy finding out more about them, then why not visit their web pages list below or go one better and catch one of their gigs, you wont be disapointed.

Something Poetic
Poets, intellectuals, future kings of Spain – despite being Something poetic, alas poor Yoric, we are none of these things. Which brings me nicely around to who we actually are – a band. We have a mean age of 14.8, and our music is always of the amplified variety, although we have been spotted topless in our local park, jamming among the birds and bees. Some bands we have found ourselves being influenced by are: Pink Floyd, Joy Division, U2, Smiths, Pixies, Doves, Radiohead, Interpol, British Sea Power, Arcade Fire and ahem, Trivium. As for our overall sound, we'll be honest…we're not all that sure ourselves yet, but it appears to come somewhere from the alternative side of things. Love and hugs… Something poetic …

"The cult of Star 27 continues apace. It’s old school rock ‘n’ roll shindigs with the finger on fast-forward. Clonking falling-over-itself melodies crash into crunching chords and wailed lyrics, before another rolling foot-taper comes along without so much as an introduction. Quite chaotic but endearing and somewhat beautiful, all within 20 minutes." © Liam Pennington 2004

Suburbian
SUBURBIAN are a local Portsmouth band with something new and genuine to offer. The band has been in the making for a good 2 years, but their ties stretch back further than that when Matt E and Loz met in Preston Disco/Acid Jazz 5-piece Liquid in 1998. After Liquid split, it wasnt until 5 years later when Loz returned from 3 years abroad in Amsterdam that they met up again in Portsmouth. They instantly began work on a new project, experimenting with some original ideas along with Liquids bass player Lea. Unfortunately, as Leas university studies became more demanding of his time he had to leave the band, but Matt E and Loz continued to work on evolving the sound. Over the next year they slowly shaped a spacious and heartfelt soundscape for the ever-strengthening original material, with Matt Es basis in funk and rock drumming providing a rock-solid base for Lozs impassioned melodic vocal lines. After an exhaustive audition process and many changes of line-up, Matt P was recruited on guitar, his extraordinary natural ability and melodic ear taking the emotive song-writing to a new and powerful level. Most recently their collaboration with local producer Dave Jones (uMo) has resulted in a focused and dynamic 3 song demo which has already attracted some professional interest. SUBURBIAN are continuing to evolve their sound and expand their set-list. With the recent recruitment of Dave Jones as full time bassist they are currently focused on recording and rehearsing with a view to be gigging before the end of 2006.

the arty clarke experience
After ages of planning to form a band, and a few false starts that gave rise to a couple of tunes, but fell by the wayside (isn't it always the way?), Smiler and Callum finally got together as The Arty Clarke Experience after a kick up the arse in the form of the offer of a gig (from Roy of the Handals- we'll always love you!). In a short period of time, we knocked together some songs, gained a treat drummer, (our long time mate Mick, who's played in loads of bands), had a couple of rehersals, then played at the Head of Steam (opening for Turbo Johnson/Station Road/The Handals/The Focus Group and Arebella Harrison- Look 'em all up). Everyboday was really nice to us after we played, and we had a properly treat time, so we decided to stick around. We recorded some tunes with our mate, Micks brother Maffas, which despite being recorded directly following the guidelines of the old Arty Clarke ethos (drunk) and under rehersed, came out sounding all well and good to us. You can probably hear them yourself if you check out the website

The Chorus

We tried to be a band in the nineties, back in a small riverside town in Essex, its all a bit of a blur but we did meet and wrote some songs but it didn’t quite fit right, so we split from each others lives to taste the real world.

But it wasn’t up to much.

So five years later our paths crossed again when these boys had become men. We acquired a wad of grimy cash and turned it into instruments. This was the plan, Sam HAD to play piano, that we all agreed on, if Jim slides his fingers up and down that bass and Phil knocks out a rhythum in his head then all it needs is Benjamin to do that thing where he paints with the guitar, and if Barton sings over the top it…..well, it sounded like a plan.

We’ll call ourselves The Chorus.

With our future all stacked on the table we knuckled down and wrote, but what would people think of this stuff? One minute there’s a squall of guitar and drumming like the thunder of horses, next a lonesome piano, a melody on the bass, a string section plucked out of the classics and songs about sad, lost men.

We played beneath some arches with the London train clattering above…and everyone loved it.

But now we need more.

The songs keep coming and the shows keep getting better. We’re ready to take the next step.

Good evening, we are The Chorus.

Benjamin Hobden – Guitarist

Sam Milverton – Pianist

Phil Smith – Drummer

Jim Van-Win – Bassist

Barton Young – Vocalist

The Distance
The Distance blends raw ability, head-bobbing grooves, strange time signatures and challenging lyrics, producing songs that will engage the listener on both intellectual and emotional levels. Influences include Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Muse, Nick Drake, Ben Harper and U2. Song styles include acoustic anthems, rhythmically-intriguing rock, dance floor fillers and electric ballads to break your heart. Underpinning this diversity is soaring vocals, intelligent arrangements, and progressive song-writing.

In 2003, The self-financed album “Here You Are” was released under the former name of “ReVolition”. It attracted significant attention and positive feedback regionally and nationally. Later that year, the band gave a copy to a member of Elbow. The record was given an immediate airing on the Elbow tour bus, and was followed up by a phone call the next day. Elbow then introduced the band to Skinny Dog records, the Manchester label set up by Elbow and I am Kloot. The Distance have since been invited to appear with the two bands on a compilation album due to be released on the label later this year.

A new member was introduced into the band in February 2005. The new line-up has been rehearsing hard at their studio in Stoke-on-Trent. They now have a collection of 20 songs for the next album, and an exciting live set that will be showcased at gigs from 27th July onwards in their home town of Stoke-on-Trent, London, Manchester, and around the UK.

The Formative Years
The Formative Years all began back in January 2006 when Adam Burke decided to get a band together. He had an idea of what sound he was trying to create but wasn't sure exactly if the seed he had planted in his own head would actually blossom into anything more than another dream. Adam had recently moved back into the area of Leigh, Lancs and called on his ex-partner in crime Anthony Halliwell (former band with Adam in Shore and Audioform). Adam pitched the idea of a 4/5 piece Indie/Rock 'n' Roll band to Anthony, within minutes the two were jamming away and without actually realising, they created one of the band hit songs "Lose Some".

In less than five Minutes "Lose some" had a verse, chorus, basic lyrics and the all important "Guitar-riff" intro. Adam and Anthony knew that they were a little rusty since the old days of Shore and Audioform but could see the real potential in this new sound!

Over the next few days Adam and Anthony worked on a few different numbers. Anthony invited old school pal Graham Holmes to assist with Bass Guitar who gladly came along to rehearsals and jammed away. The lads worked on a couple of numbers but were frustrated without a Drummer.

It was Early February now and Adam had been writing at home and really finding the Formative sound. A number of songs had been created in a short period of time to compliment "Lose some" including "Low-Fi Shit" "Crawl" and a catchy tune that later caught the attention of the bands Drummer, "Oxygen".

A lot of time glued to the computer and even more time posting adverts in music shops (for a Drummer) was starting to annoy Adam, who just wanted to get in the rehearsal studio and bang out the new material. Time was ticking on and the band still had no Drummer. But this was all about to change.

After posting an advert on MusoFinder.co.uk, Adam received an email from Michael Wilde who was interested in coming down to Leigh and having a bit of an informal Jam (after hearing the orginal "Oxygen" Demo). Things started to get interesting and the lads booked a session in the Arthur St, Rehearsal Studio's, Leigh.

Late Feb, The Formative Years entered the Studio to start writing and rehearsing the new material. The first session was pretty good, the band got a lot done and had a good laugh, the bones of TFY were there already, they just needed fleshing out.

Only one rehearsal session had taken place when the band received the sad news that Bass player, Graham Holmes, was leaving the band. Once again the band were hit with another hurdle!

Adam, Anthony and Mike continued regardless and spent the next five weeks writing and rehearsing. The song writing was incredible, Adam turned into a "one man song factory", pumping tunes out like there was no tomorrow! The band used the majority of the material and had a set list of approximately nine songs already, including "I Knew You Would", "Girl", "Rock Bottom", "Hard To Please", and "Oxygen".

The sound was good, the songs were good but the band needed to promote themselves more. Adam decided to set up a page on MySpace and sell the band that way. Mike worked hard on setting up a website for the band (this one) and Anthony.....well Anthony cleaned his guitar!

The MySpace page started off pretty well, Adam stuck the new songs on there and rotated them on a regular basis. After only a few days the page had 100's of hits and loads of positive comments. The band received a lot of interest from Radio shows from the BBC and the U.S.

In March 2006 the bands new song "Radio 55" was played on Californian web-based radio show "QVO-Rocks". The band thought this was great but wouldn't last long, they were wrong! the song was played again the next day, then the day after that and continued to be played for thirty five days in a row!!! People were listening to the songs and liking them and requesting them on the show! The band kept in touch with the DJ who wanted more songs and permission to put the bands Bio and Photo's on the Radio show's "artists" page on their website. The band still have a good relationship with the show who continue to play their new material on a daily basis!

In April 2006, the band had been advertising for a Bass player for a while and they had some interest but not really what they were looking for. Eventually good luck struck the band when Mike Reed answered an advert Mike had placed on PartySounds.co.uk. A few short conversations later and Mike R was due to audition for the role of Bass player. The rehearsal went really well, Mike R brought a new dimension to the sound, it sounded good, it sounded like The Formative Years had originally sounded when Adam had thought of the idea back in January 2006, that seed had blossomed, The Formative Years were alive and kicking!

May 2006 brought a little taste of stardom to the band when they appeared in three seperate Newspapers in one week, played on the BBC, which lead to an invite to the BBC to perform an interview on BBC Radio Lancashire show, "Bryan", aimed at unsigned bands. The interview went really well and was aired on May 19th 2006. The word was out, The Formative Years were making ripples in the pond that is the local music scene.... and waves were starting to form!

The band received a lot of interest from Pubs and Music Venues and gigs started to be arranged, good local bands were contacting the band and agreed to be support acts! Their MySpace page got hammered and achieved another 2000 plays in just a few weeks.

SO, WHAT'S NEXT?........................

TFY are set to hit the Recording Studio in May/June 2006 to record their debut E.P "Intimidating Suburbia". The E.P will be available to buy via the website in July 2006.

July 2006 will be the start of The Formative Years Summer of gigs, starting in Bolton, Leigh and Manchester.................. Then....... well I suppose an album would be nice!

This band are really going places, when you listen to their material you will find something for everyone. A real musical journey all the way from the Rock 'n' Roll masterpiece that is "Feel", all the way to the heartbreaking "Crawl", before bouncing back to the uplifting "Something changed".

The Labels
The Labels were born on a cold, boozy night in the November 2003 when Sam, Ves and Slee decided they were tired with what they were hearing on the local music scene and so decided to form a band. They slowly started to write their own songs, but something was missing, a drummer! They searched the four corners of the earth looking for somebody who could add that extra dimension to their tracks. With that in mind they asked long time friend Lizzy Kay to slap the skins for them. From that moment on the 4 friends knew they had something special. Going from strength to strength they embarked on their first gigs which went down... ahem...not as well as they had hoped. September 2004 came around and all their gear got stolen, never tobe rocovered. They decided to have a break, and so went their seperate ways. During december the same year they played a comeback show in Wakefield which went down well enough tobe asked to play a secret gig sharing the bill with The Cribs. This gave them the spark they needed and so got down to practicing again. With new songs and a new impetus they were asked to play a Battle of the Bands which they went on to win and earn themselves a place headlining at Clarence Park festival. They Started playing gigs across Leeds slowly building up a fanbass and reputation for a energetic, entertaining and enthusiastic live show. They also went on to play along side bands such as Nine Black Alps, Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. A year after their gear was stolen, something they were all dreading finally took place, Liz left The Labels to go to uni in Lincoln. So the search was on to find a drummer who could fill the great void left by Liz. This time though they had a plan. They asked another long time friend and former guitarist with Merry-go, Jonny Booth if he'd be interested and he was. So with a full line-up again, and gigs planned, and a tour in the pipeline, they will carry on making this music we all know and love.

The Nineteen20's
We are The Nineteen20s, a young and optimistic band from the semi-respectable town of Watford. We were previously known as The Polar Bears, but decided to change the name due to copyright complications. You could ask us, why call yourselves that? Unfortunately, you wouldnt get a serious answer. But we do take music seriously: The Nineteen20s is influenced from (and covers), for the most part, Indie and Rock music from proud old Britannia. However, we like anything good, so long as it uses guitars. After we heard that a chav boy-band was to participate in our schools Talent Show, the lads decided that this disgrace to music could not go unchallenged. After we did this so successfully (so successfully, in fact, that the judges called the band arrogant), we thought it would be a good idea to stick around. The Nineteen20s began learning covers from worthy acts such as Bloc Party, The Hives and Artic Monkeys. However, we have now progressed to the stage of writing our own material. We have already organised our own local show, named ASIAID, which raised a significant amount of cash for Pakistani earthquake victims. Weve just starting gigging around the London/North London area with shows at venues like Lark in The Park, Baraka and The Standard Music Venue. We're looking for more gigs on a national scale!

The Scottish Enlightenment
The Scottish Enlightenment released its debut album, Volo ut Sis, in April 2006, on Moojuice records. It is pushing it, and has been since the start, doing everything far to quickly, but getting away with it. the sway
The Sway started life as HEAVEN`S ECHO in June 1989 before changing the name to THE SWAY in October of that year. After the usual lot of gigs in toilets and hell holes The Sway got good, REAL GOOD! The band signed a deal with Bad Habits records and went on to headline three UK tours including 2 sold out gigs at the legendary Marquee club in London and an ill advised booking at a Christian Rock festival (the line from the song, Dont penetrate me, shut up bitch or Ill f*ck you again went down a storm literally!). They also premiered their 2nd single and video (for the song - Going Blind) at the world famous PLANET HOLLYWOOD in London. Then, after over 120 shows, 2 top 100 singles (Silk and Going Blind), 1 ridiculous video featuring dancing girls (for Going Blind), the band called it quits. The Sway played their last ever show at the BBC MUSIC LIVE event in Birmingham City Centre in May 1995 and went on their merry way............Why they quit is a mysteryCOME BACK?????? Formed in South Wales in the winter of 2004, theheytrade is a 4 piece indie rock and roll band. The band met through friendship. OJnr and Chris had been jamming together in various bedrooms for a couple of years and the forming of a band was the obvious way forward. Polts and Christian were drafted in to complete the line up and theheytrade was created. Most of 2004/05 was spent getting the songs tight and gigging anywhere that would take us. After a good stint on the gigging scene gaining valuable experience we went back into the rehearsal rooms late on in 2005 to consolidate and improve a set that had, in general gone down very well. Studio time has been booked and another onslaught on the gigging scene will soon follow. The demo is now blasting on myspace. Come take a live look for yourself, we are genuinely something different

Unclecon
I am a singer songwriter from Glasgow, mainly a guitar player with a little drum and bass.
Currently playing open mike in and around the city centre, liked to Neil Young, Paul Weller.
I love the guys who get up and sing armed only with a guitar I feel they have so much more to do to remain entertaining and I aspire to be like them.

Waylaid
Waylaid formed in 2003 when Nicky and Gareth started playing covers in bedrooms, living rooms and even on football pitches in the summer evenings, then they started to develop their own ideas! Hmmm..... our own songs! The first few were far too 'poppy' and were later scrapped.

With new songs that felt more like what they wanted to be playing the search was on for a bassist and drummer! Nicky and Gareth persuaded Dan, a long time friend from school, to learn bass for the band. more recently, after a few drummer changes they asked Craig, who was already a competent drummer & guitarist to play drums.

Waylaid have now developed their own sound with influences from Coldplay, Radiohead, Athlete, Elbow and Travis. you have to hear them to decide 'what they are?'
