A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a secured method that permits people to access their computers from the Internet.  For example, it allows employees to work from home or to access their computers when they are away on business.

Because SDSL provides a high-speed Internet access for both uploading and downloading files, it is often better suited for VPN than is ADSL.

A number of vendors provide inexpensive VPN software packages that are easy to install and  don't require complex software or hardware configurations.  As more people elect to work from home and more companies decide to outsource work overseas, VPN with an SDSL connection will become increasingly popular.
