AMENITIES & SERVICES
|
|
What to expect: The hotel is part of the Depot complex, which features a restored 1899 railway station as its centerpiece. Monday through Thursday, the hotel is busy with business travelers drawn to meetings in the elegantly restored Great Hall, which once served as the Depot's reception area. On weekends, when the hotel's water park is open, families take over. Minnesota Vikings and Twins fans flock to the hotel because of its proximity to the Metrodome. Amenity highlights: Among the building's highlights are an indoor water park and seasonal ice rink, housed in a restored, glass-enclosed train shed. The complex is located in Minneapolis' historic milling district, where restored mill buildings now house offices and lofts. Hotel guests can rent bikes to tour through the neighborhood. Insider tip: The depot, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is just a portion of the complex, and was originally called the Milwaukee Road Depot. The Renaissance Revival-style building designed by Charles Frost served customers from 1899 to 1971. Scattered throughout the building are glass cases containing historic mementos from the Milwaukee Road railroad.
