Notice to All City Animal Owners

This is to inform you that every owner or keeper of a dog shall, annually, on or before the fifteenth day of July, cause it to be registered, numbered, described, and licensed in the office of the city hall, and shall cause it to wear on its collar a metal badge distinclty marked with the refistered nember and the year, inscribed on the badge, and shall pay for such license for each dog.  (Southport Code of Ordinances Section 3-2).
Violation of this ordinance can result in the fine of $50.00.  Any questions may be directed to the Animal Control Officer by calling 457-7911.  The cost of registration is $10.00.  Any canine found not registered after July 15, wil be found in violation, and the owner will be cited.
Also, the City of Southport is offering to all cat owners identifications tags.  These tags are not mandatory, however, recommended for all pet cats.  Cat owners may purchase these at city hall for a price of $5.00.
