IFFGD
Industry Council
History
and Purpose
When IFFGD began, in 1991, there was little communication between patients
living with functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and the companies
with the means to develop medical or pharmaceutical products and services.
Subsequently, IFFGD has worked hard to make the needs of our members knownnot
only to the clinicians who see patients, but also to the researchers and
providers of diagnostic and treatment methods and tools.
In
1998, in an effort to strengthen our voice, we formed the IFFGD Industry
Council. This helps us facilitate direct access from IFFGD to the Council
members and ensure that the voice of our membership is heard. The purpose
of the Industry Council is to help fulfill the mission of IFFGDto
inform, assist, and support people affected by gastrointestinal disorders,
or bowel incontinence.
We
invite participation from companies with a demonstrated interest in these
disorders. While we are grateful to our Industry Council members for their
support, we do not endorse any specific product or company.

IFFGD
Standards for Collaboration
IFFGD is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to inform, assist,
and support people affected by gastrointestinal disorders, or bowel
incontinence.
We
develop and implement education and research initiatives as a means
to further our mission.
Corporate
sponsors play an important role in supporting IFFGD initiatives
by contributing funding and by sharing resources. IFFGD retains
unrestricted control over the planning, content, objectives, methods,
and execution of all initiatives and projects.
We
do not endorse any products.
IFFGD
retains the independence essential to our nonprofit role as an impartial
and authoritative resource.
Individuals
look to IFFGD as a source of independent information and services.
By focusing on overall treatment issues or strategies, we work with
our sponsors to bring accurate and useful information to our audience
while raising public awareness about GI health issues.
We
disclose and gratefully acknowledge the support of our sponsors,
in our publications and by other appropriate means, in connection
with our educational, research, or support initiatives.
