Program
This program is designed for dental professionals working in practices that administer nitrous oxide sedation.

Ms. Cotter will:
1. Describe the physiological and psychological aspects of pain,
2. Describe the states of drug-induced CNS depression,
3. Explain the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory and circulatory systems,
4. List the indications and contraindications for use of nitrous oxide,
5. Describe the prevention, recognition and management of complications and life threatening situations that may occur during the use of nitrous oxide sedation,
6. Explain the potential health hazards of trace anesthesia,
7. Review the NC State Dental Board laws concerning nitrous oxide.

Ms. Margie Graves, executive director of the NC Caring Dentists program will explain how the program works on behalf of NC's dental professionals.
