Day 2 Albuquerque - White Sands National Monument -Alamogordo

Distance: 222 Miles
There are an abundance of things to see in Albuquerque, primarily the Pueblo Indian Cultural Center and the Sandia Peak Tramway, which offers a stunning panoramic view as the cable car carries passengers to the top of a mountain high above the desert floor. Continue south to White Sands National Monument, a world of bright white sand as far as the eye can see. Overnight in Alamogordo.

Day 3 Alamogordo - Carlsbad Caverns - Carlsbad

Today's activity is to visit the enormous Carlsbad Caverns, the largest cave system in the continental USA. Enjoy an optional tour of these massive caverns with its unusual limestone formations inside them. A highlight of a visit to Carlsbad Caverns is to view all the bats leaving the mouth of the cave every evening at dusk, as they form what appears to be a black cloud billowing out of the cave and swirling in to the darkening sky. Continue on to the town of Carlsbad for the night.

Day 4 Carlsbad - Roswell

Return to Albuquerque, but not before stopping at Fort Sumner, the place where famous western outlaw Billy the Kid was shot and killed by a sheriff.
