Just for Freshmen

Welcome Weinberg Freshmen!

If you're an incoming Weinberg freshman, this website is the place for you to begin planning for the fall quarter and the quarters that follow.  Please pay careful attention to the information posted here and be sure to let us know if you have any questions.

Several really important things happen in the next few weeks.

First, between May 15 and June 1, all incoming Weinberg students except those already admitted to a special degree program (HPME, ISP, MMSS and the dual degree program with the School of Music) must indicate their preferences for fall-quarter Freshman Seminars.  This is crucial.  DO NOT MISS THIS DEADLINE.

Whether or not you are in a special degree program, please use the Top Ten form (at the left of this page) to let us know your best guesses (and we literally mean guesses: don't worry if you don't have a clue yet) as to which classes you'd like to take this fall in addition to your seminar as well as your plans for the longer term.  Do you think you might take General Chemistry?  Introductory Arabic?  Law and Society?  Tell us!  More than that, look at the online Course Schedule and try to choose Freshman Seminars that don't meet at the same time as a required Chemistry lab, or the only section of intermediate Hindi, or some other course you know you'd really like to take.

And don't worry: you're not committed to taking any of the classes you list on your tentative schedule.  The more we know about your plans, though, the more we'll be able to help you make important decisions.  If you have no idea what you might take, check out the sample schedules posted on this website.  You have lots of options.

So...let's get started with information about Freshman Seminars...
