For the many people who choose to travel there, Maui is a true example of paradise on earth. Offering some of the most beautiful and unforgettable scenery that you will ever find, Maui's natural attractions include a coastline of white sandy beaches lined with palm trees and fronting an azure blue sea, and an interior of lush green rainforests that gives way to rugged volcanic peaks. As if that were not enough, the island is blessed with a year round tropical climate, with baking hot days and just enough rain to ensure that the trees remain green and pleasant.

Maui offers an excellent selection of high quality hotels in the coastal resorts of Kihei and Kaanapali where you can relax, and a variety of pleasant villages with plenty of good value shops and lively bars to explore during your stay. The main reasons for visiting this beautiful part of the world though, are all natural, and much of the tourism of Maui is centred on encouraging guests to get out and see the sights that have been created by the elements either by hiking and cycling through the national parks, or by taking an unforgettable helicopter ride over the landscape in order to take it all in.

No visitor to Maui should miss out on the chance to take a helicopter tour of the island. The stunning scenery takes on a whole new perspective as you soar over it, and you can see many locations made famous in movies such as Jurassic Park. Tours can be arranged in advance of travel, and the price will depend on how long you want them to last. An hour is a recommended length in order to best appreciate the many sights. If the idea of a helicopter ride over the rainforest canopy is not to your taste, then another popular option in Maui is to charter a boat and head out into the Pacific Ocean in order to watch the hump back whales as they migrate through Hawaii.

Most of Maui's attractions are natural, and paramount among them are the beautiful coastal beaches for which most visitors come to the island in the first place. Kahului has some good museums and galleries if you want to get out of the sun, and is also the area with the best nightlife on the island, while in the coastal village of Lahaina retains many features from the era when it was the royal capital of Hawaii.
