Welcome to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, generally and fondly known as Carolina, chartered in 1789. Carolina became the first state university in the nation, and in the past two centuries has trained over three quarters of a million people. Today the University’s enrollment is approximately 25,000 students studying in more than 100 fields.

The University offers 67 baccalaureate, 88 masters and 61 doctoral degrees, in addition to professional degrees in dentistry, medicine, public health, business, law, public administration and library science.

The Department of Disability Services (DDS), a part of the Division of Student Affairs, works with departments throughout the University to assure that the programs and facilities of the University are accessible to every student in the University community. Additionally, DDS provides reasonable accommodations so students with disabilities who are otherwise qualified may, as independently as possible, meet the demands of University life. The following information is a general description of facilities, programs and accommodations available for students with disabilities.
