An Important Message to Law Enforcement Officers

The posters that appear on this web site with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children logohave been certified as noted below.

  • Case has been entered into the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
  • Waiver from parent, guardian, or law-enforcement agency is on file at NCMEC giving permission to disseminate photograph of missing child.
  • Posters containing photograph of abductor(s) are included only if a felony warrant has been issued for the abductor and the subject has been entered into the NCIC Wanted Person File.

Law-enforcement officers should check with the appropriate law-enforcement agency before taking action on a child or abductor depicted on any poster on this web site that does not contain the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children logo.

Law-enforcement officers should also be aware that some international cases submitted to this site do not have criminal warrants, but are subject to the process specified under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction which is an international treaty.  For information concerning this process contact the NCMEC International Division at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) when dialing within the United States and Canada or 001-703-522-9320 when dialing from any other country.
