Effective July 1, 2005 the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety (DMVS) has been dismantled and a new Department of Driver Services (DDS) has been created, according to House Bill 501. The following programs have been moved to other agencies with in state government
Household goods, Limousine, Bus and Non-consensual Towing	Public Service Commission
Enforcement	Department of Public Safety
Accident Reporting	Department of Transportation
Motor Vehicle Division Tags and Titles	Department of Revenue
Driver's License Services	Department of Driver Services
