GOOD COARSE FISHING IN PLACES DESPITE THE RECENT INCLEMENT WEATHER
The tail end of hurricane Gordon lashed parts of the country for a
short time last week, bringing with it very heavy rain. Water levels have
risen significantly with some local flooding since the weekend. More heavy rain is on the
way as we write, but all the while it's very mild for the time of
year with temperatures peaking at 20 C. Not as much feedback this week
as the season advances. From reports received coarse angling was quite good
in places despite the conditions. Anglers from Cambridgeshire managed
some lovely Bream in the

GREAT LATE SEASON RUN OF SALMON ON THE RIVER FEALE AND RIVER
MULCAIR
Torrential rain and high winds from the tail end of Hurricane
Gordon resulted in severe flooding in places last week. The
continuing inclement weather since has provided ideal conditions
for salmon fishing
on our spate rivers. Over the weekend
the River Feale fished very well with an abundance of salmon
caught and released. There was also a great run of fish into
the River Mulcair with both visiting anglers and locals enjoying
lively sport. Trout angling has been fairly good also with some
good sedge fishing reported on

FISHERIES AWARENESS WEEK
ENDS FOR 2006
Fisheries Awareness Week 2006 now in its second year was a great
success. The week attracted lots of media attention and positive
reaction and was well attended. The fine spell of weather added to the
enjoyment of the week. There were many displays and fisheries
information was available at our Open Day venues. While educationally
rich it was also great fun with lots of outdoor activities and
competitions and the local events throughout the catchment attracted
much participation.
