Alicante

Many visitors arrive through the El Altet airport, about 10km southwest of the city centre. There are both international and domestic flights which connect to all major Spanish and European destinations by both scheduled and charter services.

You can also catch a train direct to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia or Murcia. The coastal train trip passes through many beautiful areas, both urban and rural, and, if you’re wanting to travel at your own pace, is a great way to find out about Spanish culture first-hand.

There are a number of bus services, both local and long-haul operating from Alicante but unfortunately they are not renowned for their reliability. Information about available services can be found at most local travel agents and obtaining a seat for a local destination often requires waiting at the bus station itself.

Many tourists choose to drive themselves as the roads are pleasant and scenic, and not worth the bother of journeying by bus!
