Alaska Wildlife is among the most abundant in the nation. Two-thirds of the acreage of the entire US National Park System is in Alaska. Alaska has abundant wildlife, spectacular scenery and native culture. The highest mountain in North America is Mt. McKinley, located in Denali National Park. The largest brown bear population density is in Katmai National Park. Both offer the best opportunities to photograph and view them. Alaska wildlife enthusiasts will be over whelmed about the great land called Alaska. Our Alaska wildlife includes the following plus many more species not listed.

The interior Alaska Brown Bear are known as the grizzly bear.

Brown Bear
The bears range in color from blonde to dark brown depending on habitat. Coastal brown bears re referred to brown bears. The interior Alaska Brown Bear are known as the grizzly bear.

Alaskan Caribou (Rangifer tarandus) are distributed in 32 distinct herds. Preferring treeless tundra and mountains, these majestic even-toed ungulates, also known as reindeer, range through most of Alaska.

Caribou
They are a member of the deer family. Caribou are known to travel far in one year. They roam back and forth to various eating grounds.

Dall's sheep are found in Alaska, the Yukon, the western NWT and extreme north-western British Columbia. They are pure white with amber-coloured horns

Are found in the high country through out Alaska & acute's mountain ranges. Male rams are distinguished by large curling horns.

Bald Eagles
Is Alaska's most magnificent bird of prey. The bald eagles live near Alaska's waterways. They feed mostly on salmon. Alaska has the largest population of eagles in the nation.

The moose (Alces alces) is the largest member of the deer family

Moose
Usually found in forested areas. They are great swimmers and can run up to 35 mph fast. Average life span of a moose is 8-12 years.
Puffins
There are two types of puffins in Alaska. You have the Horned Puffins and the Tufted Puffins. Both species can be found in the open seas of Alaska.

Humpback whales grow to be about 52 feet (16 m) long, weighing 30-50 tons

Most humpbacks migrate during the winter months. They can be seen in many areas of southeast and south central Alaska.
Katmai National Park and Denali Park
Alaska wildlife in Katmai National Park and Denali Park is some of the most prominent wildlife available to the public.
