The Rivers we run Float trips on in Katmai

The fly fishing in this part of Alaska is nothing short of Fantastic if you want to fly fish for wild runs of anadromous fish. We have access to 5 separate river systems from King Salmon. These include the Alagnak River, Kukaklek River, American Creek and the Karluk River.

The rivers we run float trips on range from fairly small and running slow, to fast and very large systems. All the rivers we float are clear running streams with no Glacial runoff. Most of the float trip fishing is pocket water fishing were we use small brightly colored purple and pink streamers for the Salmon, egg patterns for the Char & Dollies, using a 7wt fly rod.

On the starting day of your trip, usually on Sunday morning between 8 and 10 am a representative from Alaska Adventures. will meet you in King Salmon and get you ready for your 30 minute charter flight to the lake outlet, in one of the meticulously maintained Dehavilland Beaver Float planes. The charge for this charter flight covers your round trip travel. See Rates Page for Details.

Alaska Adventures fishing Testimonials

Charlie---The food, lodging, boats, guides and scenery were all outstanding. Or did it just seem that way because I experienced the hottest rainbow action of my life on the Alagnak? The sockeyes, big grayling, and a couple of lakers added variety, too. I'll recommend your operation to anyone who loves fish but dislikes crowds.
