Fish for the Famed Northern Pike
Alaska Adventures offers anglers the opportunity to fish for the famed Northern Pike and experience the notorious voracity of these snaggletooth hard-eyed back shooters of the north. After a long week of catching Salmon and Trout anglers have the chance to stretch their legs, hear the sounds of the river fade and be led back into Alaska's bush country on our infamous "Hike 4 Pike".
Our Infamous "Hike 4 Pike"
Our veteran guides will lead day trips for groups through beautiful fields of wallflowers and blueberries back a mile and a half from the river to a little tear drop of heaven taming with Northerns. With a checklist of pikey comestibles not only including one another but birds, lemmings, and salamanders these fish are quick to the fly and when a mouse pattern or wog is scatted across the surface it is a race to see which one grabs it first. These fish valued for sport, meat, and trophy entertain clients wading in the bays reflecting that endless mirage of pine trees and the sounds of pure excitement can be heard by clients all the way down the banks of the lake when the strike is on.

Pike are Caught on Spin or Fly Rods
With steel leaders Pike are caught on spin or fly rods and groups can expect to land 15-20 averaging 28 to 36 inches. After a morning of fishing enjoy a lakeside traditional shore lunch of fresh fish, potatoes and a hot cup of tea or coffee prepared over campfire. On the short walk back to the boats, stories of the Pike that almost took fingers off and how a group member fell asleep by the fire after lunch are shared and on the ride back down river to camp everyone is full of smiles. This optional day trip to "Pike Lake" is included in the standard lodge package when you visit Alaska Adventures Alagnak Lodge.
