Indianapolis to spend $1.86 billion to stop sewer overflows Oct 5 - The city's municipal wastewater and sewer system currently discharges approximately eight billion gallons of untreated sewage each year into the White River. Indianapolis will make the improvements over twenty years to reduce the overflows from approximately 60 times per year to four or fewer per year.
