Guide Tips

Maximize Fishing Opportunity

While fishing from a drift boat, do your best to minimize false casts. Most visiting anglers false cast excessively and miss opportunities at fishy water. As the boat is moving downstream with the current, the guide will be working to maintain boat position, and the angler should be casting their fly to the holding water. If a presentation is refused, the fly should be cast again with one false cast, at most, in between. This approach maximizes the amount of time the flies are in the water, and therefore, maximizes the amount of time they are available to be eaten.
