"The work is diverse and challenging. We are responsible for managing and administering a worldwide telecommunications network, maintaining the telephone and wireless programs at overseas embassies and consulates, and performing other duties such as supporting visits of high-level officials, including the President."

Mohammad, an Information Management Specialist currently stationed in Kathmandu, Nepal, immigrated to the United States from Pakistan in 1993. Arriving as a teenager in New York City without family, friends, or any support network whatsoever, Mohammad spent his first 48 hours in America in a subway station in Queens. However, relying on his talents and the promise that America was the land of opportunity, he soon carved his own destiny and today has a remarkable career that would have been impossible for him anywhere else.
Loyal to his adopted country from the first, Mohammad joined the U.S. Navy – an opportunity that allowed to him to see the world and experience different cultures first-hand. These experiences abroad proved formative, and soon Mohammad joined the U.S. Department of State. Now working at the forefront of technology, he is responsible for ensuring state-of-the-art communications systems remain secure and operational. As a Foreign Service Specialist, Mohammad has thrived, putting his fascination with technology and passion for learning to work in one of the most challenging and rewarding positions in the world.

"I am the 'new' face of America and am proud. The private sector may offer more monetary benefits for someone with my technical skill set; however, I would not have the same job satisfaction as I experience now."

As an Information Management Specialist with the U.S. Department of State, Neeru puts her technology skills to use in one of the most important jobs America has to offer. Yet her career is about more than technology - it's about representing America to the world and furthering America's interests here and abroad.
Whether it's making a particular technology system more efficient, sharing her knowledge with junior staff, or putting her well-honed people skills to use when dealing with the people in each country she visits, Neeru takes pride in her work and knows she has found a truly rewarding career unlike any other.

Protecting VIP's, whether at home or abroad, is an enormous responsibility - one that Ron does not take lightly. His mission, as he sees it, is not only to protect the Secretary of State and other dignitaries in dangerous situations, but to help them avoid the dangerous situation in the first place. The more effective Ron is at his job, the more effective the Secretary of State and others can be at theirs.
Looking for a way to combine his degree in political science with his keen interest in law enforcement, Ron joined the U.S. Department of State as a Diplomatic Security Special Agent. Whether it's visiting six countries in as many days, or driving a vehicle in the Secretary of State's motorcade through a demonstration in Chile, Ron embraces the opportunity to use his skills to make the world a safer place for America and its interests.
