Serving Sizes

A one pound package would be good for 2 to 3 people if serving with other entree additions. If serving as a "shrimp feast" then about twice this amount would suffice.

Storing and Thawing

Spot prawns can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 hours before preparation. If purchased in boxed blocks it is often good to break them up as they start to thaw to help them thaw quicker. Thawed prawns can be kept refrigerated in an air-tight container for 2 days. They can easily be stored in your freezer for several months.

Size, Count, and Packaging

Spot prawns vary in size and count. For medium spot prawns, there are 31 to 40 prawns per pound. For large spot prawns there are 21 to 30 prawns per pound. For extra large spot shrimp there are under 16 to 20 prawns per pound. Our spot prawns are packaged in 2 lb. boxes. They are flash frozen when caught. They are headless, eggless, and uncooked.
