The National Oceanographic Data Center is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C. The NODC is housed in Silver Spring Metro Center 3 (SSMC3), the centerpiece of the NOAA complex of four buildings that face East-West Highway at the intersection with Colesville Road. The Office of the Director and three of the five NODC Divisions are on the 4th floor. The NOAA Central Library (NODC Library and Information Services Division) is located on the 2nd floor, and the National Coastal Data Development Center is located at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

The NOAA site is adjacent to the Silver Spring Station on the Metro (subway) Red Line, a 20-minute ride from downtown Washington, D.C.
