The role of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and future opportunities for companies interested in participating in the U.K.’s decommissioning process.

The civil nuclear industry in the United Kingdom has recently undergone significant restructuring, with a view to opening the decommissioning process for certain nuclear sites to competition. International and domestic companies will therefore soon have the opportunity to compete for the right to conduct the decommissioning of packages of nuclear facilities. However, though the opening of the decommissioning process offers attractive opportunities, the proposed competition process is untested and complex.
