Mike, Ray, and Bob are happily holding their Sac River King catch of the day.
|
On second of our adventure, we fared a little better, as this day would yield us 4 fish, with a few more fish on and off. We all had fun fishing, with lots of laughs, and joking around, and I hope to see all of them back real soon.

It is that time of year once again. So here I go for the Sac River! The Salmon Season is now upon us, and the fish are showing in the river in more numbers. These fish are a much sought after game fish. They hit hard and fight the same. The river record is 88 lbs. Here is what I see coming up for the upcoming months. The mighty Kings are building their numbers for an all out assault on the river, and anything standing in their way to complete their mission to reproduce the Trout and Steelhead following close behind to try to cash in on the smorgasbord of eggs produced by the salmon.
If you’d like to book a Salmon fishing trip, be sure to reserve your dates as early as possible.

A year round peak fishery, Trout are marauding and jumping at every little bug or fly they can spot. They're searching for every new hatch. The water shows they exhibit, with their dazzling aerobatics, make them even more fun to catch and release by the absolute bushel. Expect a barrel of fun, and a boatload of beautiful fish. The upper river remains good for both fly and spin anglers. 15 to 25 fish per day for trout is the norm, with the fish averaging 11 to 25 inches. For spin fishing, try glow-bugs, hot-shots, or crickets. For fly-fishing try nymphs. In the evening, try a cattis, or an occasional stone fly.
If you're looking for productive fishing time over the next several months, and beyond, you'll find it here in Northern California, on the Sacramento River.

Sacramento River Fishing Forecast for August through December 2006
This is what I see coming up for the next three or four months. So here I go for the Sac river. I see the mighty Kings building their numbers for an all out assault on the river and anything standing in their way to complete their mission to reproduce the Trout and Steelhead following close behind to try to cash in on the smorgasbord of eggs produced by the Salmon. If you want to catch a big King, try throwing roe, kwick fish with a sardine rap, or a big spinner and hold on tight to your rod. The season will run until mid January. So get out there, and have yourself a ball!
Shasta Lake Fishing Forecast for August through December 2006
In the upcoming weeks, the call for Landlocked Salmon and Trout will be trolling at 40 - 100 feet. The Bass will be between 0 - 30 feet deep. The Bass Fishery peaks in April through September, but remains good all year 'round. Find the thermo cline, and have yourself a ball! The Landlocked Salmon Fishery will remain good the rest of the year, and the Trout Fishery remains good all year 'round.
On the other hand, for you lake fisherman, the lake has been a little slow due to the very hot weather we have had, but do not fret, as it will soon turn on once again and when it does, the fish will be met by a great supply of one and half – 2 inch shad. The trout, landlocked salmon, and all the other fish that inhabit the lake will be having a field day feeding on them. So get out there and tune up you’re lures and have a great time!
