CAA Consultancy and Training

The CAA has two areas of expertise engaged in consultancy:

International Services is the Consultancy and Training Department of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. It concentrates its consultancy and support services on safety and regulation issues, working closely with clients to support their work across the complete spectrum of safety regulation.

Specialists, backed up by the full resources of the CAA, can provide direct assistance, training and technical support or simply advice to an administration in order for it to develop its own procedures and practices. Visit the International Services web pages.

International Services run international training courses for aviation authorities and industry.  Dates for UK courses are published, but courses can also be run in-country and regionally.

The Environmental Research and Consultancy Department (ERCD) carries out a range of activities in the field of aviation and the environment, including noise monitoring, noise contour modelling and research into the health effects of noise. Visit the ERCD web pages.

They are highly experienced airport noise modellers, and employ the official UK civil aircraft noise model ANCON to generate noise contours for the designated London airports, as well as for several regional UK airports.  Visit the noise contours page to find out more.

They are experts on the effects of noise on people, having assisted Government with many research studies.   They also take a keen interest in the environmental impacts of aircraft emissions.

ERCD offers a wide range of consultancy services, so please contact them if you require advice on the impacts that aircraft can have on the environment.
