Excessive tickets, causing an accident while driving recklessly and other infractions may prompt the court or judge to order you to take an 8 hour traffic school course. This course is known as 8-hour traffic school, Intermediate defensive driving or court ordered traffic school. The good news is that you can take the 8-hour course online. And you do not have to do it all at once. You can split up the 8 hours over as many sessions as you chose.

The court will give you a deadline so make sure you complete the course in enough time to receive your certificate and deliver it to the court. When you finish your Defensive driving course our system will over you several choices for certificate delivery. If you have 10 days or more you should select first class mail - which is free. If you have less than 10 days you should select an expedite option. Email is fastest way to get your traffic school certificate. It will come as a PDF attachment that you can print and deliver to the court.

How 8 Hour Traffic School Works

Our 8 hour course is approved statewide by the state of Florida. The course is divided into chapters. Each chapter teaches you about different topics related to defensive driving, traffic, etc. To advance through the course you must complete the required amount of time for each chapter and the traffic school quiz at the end. The materials are kept up to date and deal with the latest topics regarding safe driving.

Question: How long is the course?

It will take a total of 8 hours to complete the course but you can do it a little at a time. You can login do an hour or any amount of time you want and logout. Our system will save your time. When you login the next time you will pickup where you left off.


Question: Is this traffic school course approved by the state of Florida?

Yes like all our courses, the 8 hour traffic school course is approved in all Florida counties.

This is NOT the 8 Hour Driving While License Suspended Course or the 8 Hour Aggressive Driving Course.

If you have already taken a 4 hour traffic school course in the last 12 months the court may grant you permission to take this course to avoid points for a ticket. Contact the clerk of the court and ask if you can take the 8 hour intermediate driver improvement course to avoid points. In many cases the clerk of court will authorize you to take the 8 hour court ordered course.

Florida also has a 12-hour Advanced Driver Improvement course. The 12-hour course is currently only available in a classroom and is typically taken by drivers who have had their drivers license suspended. By taking the course many of these drivers can get a hardship license that allows them to drive to and from work.
