Fishing with Squid
Fishing with squid works well because it has such a distinct odor it covers a large area within the water. Squid is the main diet for Swordfish.
The large squid above can be rigged two ways. One is with a double hook that has a hook attached at each end of the squid.
The second rig is a single hook with a small egg sinker which keeps the bait from collapsing when deployed.
The standard would be a 400 lb test leader and the lowest weight of 200 lbs with crimped sleeves.
Attach the weights with rubber bands to the end of about 12 ft of where the line and the leader meet.
The reason you use the rubber bands is for the weight to easily detach from the leader because it may become hazardous once you have hooked the fish.
The glow stick is attached near the weight or anywhere you want since the fish is attracted to the light.
The smaller squid is primarily used for Dolphin with a jig and effective for Grouper.
