A Private Recreation Retreat at Your Doorstep
The Running Y’s lakeside location provides a wide array of activities without ever leaving the Ranch. In addition to world-class golf on the Arnold Palmer Golf Course, Running Y puts other pastimes -- from water and team sports to individual sports -- right out the door.
The Ranch’s private recreation areas feature the 335-acre Skillet Handle, a finger of forested land with its own eight miles of hiking and bike trails. A year-round covered community ice arena draws young and old alike. There are also tennis courts, a boat basin and a canoe center. A good place to start is the Sports and Fitness Center, where you’ll find the information you need. The on-site Outdoor Adventure Center arranges guided tours for river rafting, kayaking, lake fishing, fly-fishing, ice-skating (seasonally) camping and bike excursions.
If day to night activity isn’t your preferred mode of relaxation, there are restful spots to sit in the shade and enjoy one of those books you’ve been wanting to read. Or plan a day at the Sandhill Spa.
The Running Y boasts an exceptional wetlands area that attracts bird-watchers. One of the greatest seasonal concentrations of migratory birds unfolds here each year, when huge flocks of swan, geese and ducks cross the sky each spring and fall. Witness the majesty of one of the greatest concentrations of bald eagles in North America along ranch wetlands and experience the wonder of white pelicans, herons, egrets and tundra swans gathered on ranch meadowlands. The recreational opportunities at the Running Y™ are as rich as its surroundings.
