Balancing the Workload: CMPD Patrol Division Redistricting Plan
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department last redrew its patrol division boundaries in 2000. Since then, the jurisdiction has experienced considerable population growth, especially in the outlying unincorporated areas

Proposed 13 District Plan

The result has been a growing workload (calls for service) imbalance and unequal staffing levels across the 12 patrol divisions. The department's redistricting plan addresses these problems and considers the impact of future development on the department's service in the community.

The new redistricting plan calls for the creation of a new 13th patrol division and the reconfiguration of existing divisions.

Read the answers to Redistricting Frequently Asked Questions.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department will meet with community groups and neighborhood associations to review the new division boundaries, explain the plan, and insure that CMPD has defined neighborhood boundaries and linkages correctly.
