Dress
in Costa Rica is informal. It is a good idea to wear lightweight sport
clothing; jeans and lots of t-shirts, beach towel & swim wear. A jacket
or sweater so these can be removed when the temperature rises. An
umbrella, lightweight raincoat or poncho may also come in handy. Comfortable
walking shoes, tennis shoes and hiking boots are suggested. Please
bring sun block and use it. Drugstores have a good supply of imported
goods, but are expensive.Wide brim hats, and sunglasses are highly
recommended. Insect repellent, Camera and lots of film..
Currency-Credit
Cards
The
national currency is the Colon; dollars and travelers checks, can
be exchanged only at banks and hotels. The exchange rate fluctuates
in small increments daily. If you want to change cash, stick to
US dollars. The best bet for traveler´s checks is also US dollars,
as other currencies will rarely be accepted. Major credit cards
are accepted in most larger hotels, stores, restaurants and car
rental agencies, but at smaller, and more remote businesses, one
should be prepared to pay in local currency. .

Bank Hours
Traditional
banking hours are from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In a recent trend, some banks are staying open until 6:00 p.m., and
some operate Saturday until noon.
