Interesting Articles and Resources For Fishermen Spring Fishing For Trout
Fishing in the spring is without a doubt the most productive season for trout fishing. Ice and snow will start melting and flowing into streams and rivers making the water oxygen rich. This is the time that these fish will start to come out of the deeper waters and move to more shallow water feeding aggressively. In the early spring mornings when the water temperatures rise into the 50’s and above fish will be active in the shallows. Throughout the day trout will hang out in deeper water before returning to the shallows in the evening. This cycle will continue until late spring. For the anglers that prefer lures as their main bait the best choice are spoons. Hungry trout will be on the lookout for a moving target with plenty of flash, color, and vibration. Spoons are great for this technique and will often produce unforgettable strikes. During the middle part of the day vertical jigging proves to be the best. Locating shallow points and drop offs and dropping your lure will create results. This technique is effective, as trout will be holding out at varying depths and concentrating in one area. Spring runoff from streams and rivers provide a great hide out for trout. Trout will typically hide behind boulders; log jams, or in eddies waiting for their prey to float by. Trolling for spring trout can also be a very effective option. Trolling from a boat will allow you to cover a lot of ground and find fish. The ideal trolling fishing lure is the Kastmaster. This lure out performs other trolling baits in that it can swim at any speed without twisting your line. Depending on the water’s depth choosing either a 1/4oz. or 3/8oz size lure will be more than enough to keep a hungry trout interested. Spring fishing for trout is a great way to get back in the swing of things after a long winter. The number of fish and the experience of watching nature wake itself up are more than rewarding.
