1. Introduction.
From August 2000 to August 2003 we had booking request system on www.nzhomestay.co.nz that required Hosts to reply individually to each request.
We then installed an instant on line booking system in August 2003.
We have since found that 2/3 of all requests under the booking request system, did not result in a confirmed booking.
September 2006 was the fourth September of operation of the instant on line booking system since its installation on our web site www.nzhomestay.co.nz
Each September since then has seen a steady increase in the total the number of bed nights booked, compared to the previous September.
September 2006 was exceptional with an increase of over 38% in the number of bed nights booked compared to September 2005. (The increase this September 2006 compared to September 2003, was over 57%).
The daily average individual visitor total reached was over 794 per day in September 2006 compared to 606 a day during September 2005. (Up 31%)
2. Statistics.
Bookings were received from 7 Countries in September 2006.
29% of our Hosts received at least one booking.
Individual Bookings from major contributing countries in September 2006 compared to September 2005:
Bookings from Australia doubled; Bookings from within NZ doubled; Bookings from the UK went up 27%; Bookings from the USA went down almost 43%.
3. General.
The past 6 year have shown that forward bookings rise in number each month until November. This number then remains fairly static each month until the following March when they begin to track downwards. All the signs point to a good season in 2006/2007.
