Canon Digital Rebel XTi

Canon's new Digital Rebel XTi has a 10-megapixel self-cleaning sensor, a bigger (2.5") and brighter LCD monitor with a 160° viewing angle, and 3 frames-per-second shooting with 27-frame burst capabilities. The Digital Rebel XT and Digital Rebel XTi can use the same accessories, so you can upgrade the body of your camera without having to replace everything else.

More digital SLR cameras.

Pioneer PDP-5070HD

Pioneer PDP-5070HD

Pioneer has a "Plasma Persuasion" page on its web site with advice on how to "sell your spouse on HDTV." But their latest 50" plasma practically sells itself, with its deep blacks, accurate color decoding, and outstanding image quality. The TV has tons of inputs (including PC), dual-tuner PIP, and comes with detachable bottom speakers and a table stand.

Jack Sparrow Costumes

Jack Sparrow Costumes

Ye come seeking adventure on the seven seas? Then you'd best dress the part with a swashbuckling costume. The main character from Pirates of the Caribbean I and II is one of this year's most popular costumes. We've got Jack Sparrow gear for both kids and adults.

More Halloween costumes.

iPod Speaker and Toilet Paper Holder

iPod Speaker and Toilet Paper Holder

You have a magazine rack in your bathroom? How retro! You should get this combination iPod stereo and toilet paper holder thing instead. It has 4 moisture-resistant speakers (2 woofers and 2 tweeters) so you can sing along to "Takin' Care of Business" while you're takin' care of business, working overtime, or soaking in the tub. It's called the iCarta, but we're sure you can come up with some better names for it.

Also funny: iPod underpants.

Lipo in a Box
For women who want to have their cake and eat it too - and not bust out of their holiday cocktail dresses - there's Lipo in a Box. This line of virtually seamless bodysuits, briefs, bras, camisoles, and waist cinchers provides control where you need it, without crushing any internal organs. The latest issue of Oprah's magazine says the Lipo in a Box capri bodysuit "has incredible suction and is supertight." Skeptics should read some of the company's testimonials (e.g., "my butt hasn't looked that high and tight in a LONG time!!!"). See also: Spanx.
Dyson Root 6 Cordless Vacuum
Clean up small messes fast with the powerful Dyson Root 6 handheld cordless vacuum. The Root 6 uses the same technology as Dyson upright vacuums; it won't lose suction and it won't clog. Granted, it's slightly heavier (and much uglier) than the Dirt Devil Kone, but the motor in the Root 6 is 3 times as powerful and it charges 3 times as fast. Extra features include one-touch emptying - so you don't have to touch any dirt with your hands - and a nozzle that converts to a brush tool for dusting.
Second Generation iPod Shuffle
Friday evening we hit the local Apple store to get our hands on the new iPod Shuffle. The tiny toy is the perfect gym companion because it holds 1GB of music (about 240 songs) and clips right onto your shirt/headband/waistband - you don't have to worry about getting the crosstrainer's "arms" caught up in your cords, or deal with carrying your music player from one weight machine to another. But to call the Shuffle a bare bones player is an understatement. Look elsewhere if you want a display or FM radio. More budget MP3 players.
Tony Hawk's Project 8
It's practically raining new video games this week. Climb aboard a tank with your friends and team up to take down the Nazi forces in Call of Duty 3 (Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PS3). Skate against some of the world's top pros in Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PSP, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360). Rock it like a hurricane in Guitar Hero II (PS2), earn your stripes working for Tony Soprano's crew in The Sopranos: Road to Respect (PS2), and fight the Locust Horde in Gears of War (Xbox 360).
Panasonic TH-50PH9UK 50
CNET calls this 50" Panasonic "the best plasma value for the money," because of its deep blacks, clean video, and bargain $2,000 price tag. It has a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 (so it can display every detail of 720p sources), and all other sources (TV, DVD, HDTV) are scaled to fit this resolution. But it's fairly bare bones; while it has some useful features (picture-in-picture, 2:3 pull-down, customizable inputs), you'll have to provide your own tuner, stand, and speakers.
T-Mobile Dash Smartphone
Looks like the Motorola Q just got some serious competition by way of the T-Mobile Dash (also known as the HTC Excalibur) smartphone. Like the MotoQ, the Dash has Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition, a 1.3-megapixel camera, full QWERTY keyboard, push-email capabilities, good call quality, and long battery life. But the Dash has a couple features the MotoQ doesn't: Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 (the MotoQ has Bluetooth 1.2).
Canon HV10 Camcorder
Behold the world's smallest HDV (high definition video) camcorder, the Canon HV10. Weighing in at a mere 1.1 pounds, this compact, easy-to-use camcorder has a 3-megapixel sensor that captures true 1080 high-definition resolution video, 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and a 2.7" wdescreen LCD. It can take 3.1-megapixel digital still photos (or capture video and 2-megapixel photos at the same time), and comes with a wireless remote control so you can shoot photo and video from a distance. More Canon camcorders.
Sniffany Dog Bed
You generally scoff at people who carry their dogs around in rhinestone-encrusted dog purses, or dress them up in frilly t-shirts. But the Sniffany dog bed from Haute Diggity Dog is just too cute and too funny to resist. Made of hypo-allergenic fill with a zip-off micro-velvet cover, it's a comfortable place for your dog (or cat) to sleep, hang out, and receive visitors. Available in several sizes. More funny dog beds, including the Furcedes, the Furrari, and the Barkswaggin.
