Vertin Gallery  
Calumet, Michigan
The Vertin Gallery was built as Vertin's Department Store at the center of downtown Calumet in 1885. Vertin Brothers & Co. closed as a result of mine closings, and the st1:place>st1:PlaceName>Vertin Building remained vacant until the Fall of 2004.
In 1992 parts of the area were designed as the Keweenaw Nation Historical Park, the Historic Vertin Building was a part of such an area.
In the Fall of 2004, Ed Gray, a well established potter from Fennville arrived and rented the second floor of the Vertin Builing for studio space. Within months the studio had a core creative family of artists exhibiting work in a Gallery set on the first floor of the Vertin Building.
