Getting to Seward Alaska

    Getting to Seward, Alaska is much easier than you might think. Seward is one of the quickest and easiest fishing destinations to reach within Alaska. Unless you will be arriving by cruise ship or driving the Alaska/Canada Highway your trip will likely include a flight into Anchorage - Alaska's largest city. Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is served from numerous cities around the U.S. by most major airlines including Delta, Northwest, United, Continental, America West, and Alaska. Once you arrive in Anchorage you have a few options for travel to Seward.

By Train, Bus or Car

    Your choices for travel between Anchorage and Seward are simple: train, bus, or car. The Alaska Railroad offers daily train service to Seward departing directly from the domestic terminal at the airport. Scheduled, daily bus service to Seward is also available through the Seward Bus Line. Overwhelmingly though, the most popular and convenient way to reach Seward is to rent a car, van, or motorhome and drive the Seward Highway.

    Seward is located at the southern end of the Seward Highway, approx. 125 miles from Anchorage. The trip is breath-taking and the roadway has federal designation as one of the nation's scenic byways. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours and is definitely worth the time spent winding along Turnagain Arm, past numerous glaciers, up into the snow-capped mountain passes, through the spruce forests, and finally back down to the ocean in Seward

For those travelers with a bit more of an adventuress side, cozy, rustic cabins allow a closer brush with nature and a modern look at the original pioneer lifestyle. Another option for travelers wanting mobility and the ability to camp close to the hottest fishing spots in Alaska is to rent a motorhome.
