Abel Large Arbor Super Series Fly Reels For 2004, Steve Abel is introducing four new models ­ the Super 9 and Super 13; Super 8 and Super 12 Anti/Reverse. Bonefish one day, tarpon the next? No problem ­ it's called InterchangeABELity! Each kit includes a Large Arbor Super Series reel, plus a Big Game spool of corresponding size. This doubles the capabilities of your reel ­ and costs less than it would to buy the reel and spool separately. Example: With a Super 8 frame and Big Game #3 spare spool you will create two distinctly different reels with different capacities and capabilities. The Super 8 holds an 8-weight line with 200 yards of 20# backing, the perfect weapon for bonefish, school stripers and reds; while the interchangeable #3 spool will hold a 12-weight line plus 250 yards of 30# backing for tarpon, marlin and sailfish. Nothing else can compare. No other reels have the ability to interchange spools and frames. All Super Series reels are ported (ventilated) using a "rounded oblong" design that maintains total strength and rigidity of the metal.
