We are with you every step of the way!

Proper planning is paramount to success especially with the complexities of the internet. During the initial design your project will be placed in a password protected development area on the internet which only you have access to so you can track progress and offer suggestions.

If you are having a web application built or a custom front end design with custom back end database you will also have a system analysis meeting to determine the specifics of your project and develop a documented plan of your programming needs.

Our phased approach and modular design streamline development and the Graphic Interface or visual look of your web site and allows for cost effective and easy to implement IT solutions whether you want to develop your whole web site or web application all at once or in smaller steps depending on your budget or business plan.

A typical web site development process includes the following:

1. First Contact

You will meet with one of our representatives in person or by phone or you can fill out our online form to determine your needs, help you set your goals, identify your priorities, and organize your thoughts. We will help you determine all your web site and print needs. There is no charge for this and all consultations are free.

2. Requirement Evaluation - Planning and Research

After the initial contact a more detailed and in depth conversation will be required by phone or in person during which our project manager will determine the scope of your project. We will discuss the history, current status and goals of your company. This will be a 2 way conversation where you will tell us your ideas, outlines and thoughts on exactly what you would like your web site to do. We will offer our ideas and suggestions and help to build a concrete web solution that will meet or exceed your needs. If you have an existing web site and/or print material we will review that as well. If you need a complex web application built with front end design and back end database we may recommend a complete system analysis to determine the scope and specifics of your application. This can take anywhere from 1-4 hours and usually takes place with a designer, programmer and project manager and any members that are involved in the project with you.

3. Project Quote

northStudio.com will then provide an in-depth quote including cost, time frame and detailing all the features discussed in the “Requirement Evaluation”. This will usually be e-mailed to you for your approval or revision.

4. Approval / Review of Quote

Once you have reviewed the quote you can then offer suggestions and comments and either respond and sign off giving us the go ahead to begin development or to further refine the quote. There may be a couple of revisions to the initial quote. Once you have signed off on the quote we will then begin development once the first payment has been received.

5. Data Collection for Content and Graphical Design

We will request that you give us in digital form all the materials that you have relating to your project such as copy and images (images can be photographs that we can scan), and related print material. We will also talk to you to determine the color scheme, navigation, layout, Branding and Identity, logo, fonts and any other information so that we can integrate it with the look and feel of the web site. Your Project Manager will help you determine how your web site should look, feel, navigate and react to user choices.

6. Graphical Design Concepts & Approval

We will then provide you with a design concept to either approve or be tweaked until you are 100% satisfied. We do not stop revising your template until you are completely happy. We only use custom designed templates for your project that 100% captures your unique identity.

7. Site Architecture and Database Development

We will begin to build the HTML, CSS, JavaScript frame work of the web site.

If a database or custom application is required we will then begin to build the backend or foundation of your web application. Depending on the type of development work required, it can start earlier in the process.

Your web site will be built online in a secure password protected development area that only your organization can access so you can witness every aspect of construction and make comments when necessary. You can also track the history of your web site development, time lines and a step-by-step archiving of the process.

8. Population

This is the really exciting part in your project! The content is now being placed on the pages of your web site along with images and other content. If you have a database that needs populating then that can begin.

9. Testing

We subject your web site to rigorous testing to ensure that your web site works efficiently and with no hiccups. We test your site for compliance in various browsers, operating systems and internet connection speeds. After the development work is completed and integrated, northStudio.com will conduct quality assurance (QA) to make sure that the site functions in all anticipated situations. Once all "bugs" are eliminated, the client will approve the web site's functionality on a test server.

10. Launching your Web Site for Public Use

Once your site has been tested and approved, we will upload your website to your host for the whole world to see. This is always the best part!

11. Site Promotion

Based on what you have decided along with our Project Manager we then begin to optimize your web site and marketing plan which may include:

  • Key Word and Phrase Analysis
  • SEO Architecture of Web Site
  • Search Engine Submission
  • Email Marketing Campaigns
  • Print Materials
  • Manual Submissions

12. Maintenance

Web sites are always a work in progress and copy, images or function may need to be modified to meet customer needs or changing business environments – You may have some really good ideas too!

  • Simple copy and image modifications to static HTML sites
Use our online form that will email directly to our staff in charge of updating your web sites. Most changes are usually completed within a couple of hours. You will receive an e-mail response with a tracking number.
  • New additions or modification to backend programming
Give us a call and we can take it from there.
  • Web Application or Content Management System (CMS)
Login through your web browser to your Web Site Administration Area and add, update and delete contents of your web site using the simple management screens. We provide training and support for all of this as well.

Special Note : This entire process from 1 – 12 can be done through mail, e-mail, and telephone if so desired.
