Location: Our Lucaya Resort, Grand Bahamas Island
This 2007 AMS scientific meeting will have oral abstract sessions and poster presentations that will highlight advances in all areas of clinical and basic science topics relating to GI motility and neurogastroenterology.
In addition, this particular AMS meeting will have a special emphasis on diabetes and the gut. Morning sessions will be devoted focused multi-disciplinary sessions on "Diabetes and the Gut", with state-of-the-art presentations from a distinguished group of world renown specialist in diabetes. Diabetes has become an epidemic in our country that currently consumes 20% of the nation's health budget. In response to this, the NIH is supporting research into the area of diabetes and its complications, including GI complications. The AMS will also be offering grants in the area of diabetes and the gut.
This meeting is an excellent opportunity for basic scientists, clinical investigators, and clinicians (gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, internists and surgeons) to learn about the latest clinical and basic science data concerning diabetes: gut hormones, neuropathy, growth factors, gastroparesis, oxidative stress, obesity, immune dysfunction, alterations in specific gut structures and functions, metabolic syndrome, and management of diabetes.

7th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON FUNCTIONAL GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS
Meeting Dates: April 12-15, 2007
Location: Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This symposium is jointly sponsored by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders, in cooperation with the Functional Brain-Gut Research Group. An international audience of clinicians and investigators will gather to exchange information on the latest advancements in the areas of functional gastrointestinal disorders. The symposium will offer a format of plenary sessions, interactive workshops and mini symposia on both adult and pediatric functional gastrointestinal disorders.
